Wild expedition in the Amazon jungle. Local guides, far from civilization for an amazing adventure and fishing. 6 full days of fishing in the Amazon jungle. (late September 2023)

Suriname is an underrated gem on the world's fishing map. It boasts virtually every species of fish found in the Amazon Basin, including the famous wolf fish, a predator with incredible strength and razor-sharp teeth. We'll also hunt for the renowned Amazon catfish, arapaima, and the infamous and bloodthirsty piranhas, which we'll use as natural bait for catfish. All of this takes place in their natural environment, the South American jungle, alongside its indigenous inhabitants who possess extensive knowledge of jungle survival and the best fishing spots. During this challenging fishing expedition, we'll venture deep into the Amazon jungle, camping by the river, sleeping in hammocks while immersing ourselves in the sounds of the equatorial forest, bathing in its currents, and disconnecting from civilization for a while. Most importantly, we'll fish during both day and night, targeting species that have never encountered humans with fishing rods.

Suriname is located on the Atlantic Ocean in the southeastern part of South America. It shares borders with Guyana, French Guiana, and Brazil. Its river network consists of seven major rivers that flow northward into the Atlantic Ocean. 90% of its territory is covered by rainforests, largely unexplored to this day. Suriname is not a highly popular tourist destination due to its relatively underdeveloped tourism infrastructure, but luckily, we're not going there to lounge on hotel beach chairs. Our purpose is to experience a fantastic fishing adventure in the tropical jungle.

Here's our plan:

Waterfalls

Raleigh Falls, situated in the upper reaches of the Coppename River, is one of the last great wild rivers in the world. In the year 2000, the waterfall was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List. The national park area itself spans approximately 78,000 hectares and is home to around 350 bird species and nine types of monkeys.
